GF: What does it take to become a witch?
‘You need to believe anything is possible. A Witch is in touch with her inner power. This, more than even psychic powers, is the mark of a real Witch. Also, a Witch must have a deep respect and love for nature and recognise that there is a Goddess and a God divine presence in the Universe.’
GF: What is the best thing about being a witch?
‘You know that anything is possible, good and bad,but as a Witch you understand how you can shape your life to be what you want it to be.
GF: How did you become interested in witchcraft?
‘I was brought up Catholic, but always thought it unreasonable that females had such a secondary role within the Faith. When I went to Mass I thought it was unfair that the boys got to do all the fun stuff up the front of the Church. So I looked for alternatives. Growing up in the Australian bush I always had a deep reverence for nature and Wicca, the religion of Witchcraft, sees nature as sacred. Plus you get to do fun stuff like spellcasting!
GF: What has been your most successful spell?
‘I guess I can own up now and say the spell I cast after my book was turned down by publishers. I did one to turn this situation around and I now have a fantastic international book deal! Once you have achieved your aim you can mention the results – but a Witch doesn’t brag! The Witches Code is: To Know, To Will, To Dare, To Be Silent.

GF: Do you have a broomstick?
‘Yes! A beautiful one that Witch, Wendy Rule’s husband, Bob made for me. It has copperwire wound up the handle and is topped by an amethyst crystal. Absolutely beautiful and extremely good for ‘sweeping’ the air to clear stale energies.
GF: Were you a witch while you played in Def FX?
‘Yes. The song lyrics I wrote expressed my Witchy interests, but I didn’t talk openly about it until the band broke up. One of the first songs I wrote on our first e.p. ‘Water’ was called ‘Spiral Dance’ and had the lyrics, "the wise Witch wove her dreams, spinning coiled ropes of silver that wound round the trees’!
